I’m Sarah, the flour-covered, slightly frazzled but always enthusiastic cook behind Recipes42Day (Recipes For Today).

From Picky Eater to Food Explorer
Would you believe I was the pickiest eater as a child? My poor mother! Now I’m that annoying person who takes pictures of everything I eat and corners strangers at parties to talk about the perfect pasta sauce. Life is funny that way.
These days, my kitchen is where the magic happens. A magic that involves plenty of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, spicy Mexican creations, and fragrant Thai curries that make my whole house smell like a vacation. I believe food should transport you, whether it’s to a street cafe in Rome or to your grandmother’s kitchen table on a Sunday afternoon.
The Family Behind the Food
I share my home with my husband Mark (official taste-tester and dishwasher extraordinaire), my teenage daughter Emma (food critic and social media consultant), and my 8-year-old son Ethan (who still thinks vegetables are “yucky” unless they’re hidden in a smoothie). They’re my guinea pigs, my cheerleaders, and occasionally my food photographers when my hands are covered in dough.
Culinary Adventures Near and Far
One of my greatest joys has been traveling and collecting cooking techniques like some people collect souvenir magnets. I’ve made pasta with a grandmother in Tuscany (2 cups of flour, or about 240g, has never felt so significant), learned the secret to perfect thai curry from a my favorite restaurant in Koh Panghan (Thailand), and discovered the magic of fresh masa in a tiny Mexican village where time seemed to stand still.
Those experiences changed me. They taught me that food isn’t just sustenance—it’s storytelling, tradition, and connection all rolled into one delicious package.
Real Talk About Real Food
Let’s be honest though—sometimes after a day of shuttling kids to activities, meeting work deadlines, and trying to remember if I fed the dog, the last thing I want to do is spend hours in the kitchen. That’s why you’ll find everything here from elaborate weekend projects to “throw it all in a pot and pray” Tuesday night specials.
Because real life isn’t Instagram-perfect, and sometimes dinner is a scramble of whatever’s not wilting in the vegetable drawer. (And that’s perfectly okay!)

My Food Philosophy
I believe in eating with joy and intention. I believe in respecting ingredients and the earth they come from. I believe in moderation—sometimes that means a kale salad, and sometimes that means chocolate cake for breakfast. No judgment here!
Most of my recipes center around colorful vegetables, hearty grains, and creative ways to make plants the star of the show. You might notice there’s no meat around these parts—that’s intentional, but I promise you won’t miss it!
Let’s Connect!
The best part of this whole blogging adventure has been connecting with kindred spirits like you. Drop me a comment. Tell me about your kitchen triumphs and disasters (we all have them!), your family favorites, or that weird food combination you love but are too embarrassed to tell anyone about. I’m all ears and zero judgment.
